Do you find Savasana to be easy or difficult? Sometimes it is difficult to stay still. Our minds race. Emotions bubble up to the surface. The body gets uncomfortable.
Savasana, or corpse pose, is often the final resting pose during a yoga class. It can show up at other times, but typically it is saved for the end. Some of us look forward to this pose during the whole class and can't wait until the moment we are invited to just rest on our mats. Others dread it.
Although it looks easy, Savasana (Corpse Pose) has been called the most difficult of the asanas (yoga poses). Indeed, many yoga students who can happily balance, bend, and twist through the rest of class struggle with just lying on the floor. The reason is that the art of relaxation is harder than it looks.
This workshop is designed to explore why we have such a love-hate relationship with doing nothing. You'll learn:
This workshop is suitable for all practice levels, from beginner to advanced.
Class size is limited to 6 students in-person. We will be practicing Savasana throughout the workshop, so please bring anything to make yourself more comfortable. We have mats, blocks, and a few blankets. You may wish to bring a bolster, pillow, blanket, and/or eye-pillow or sleep mask.
ZOOM option is available for those who cannot attend the in-person session. No recording will be available. 2 Continuing Education hours are available for yoga teachers through Yoga Alliance.
